CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands - August 17, 2021 -- To provide clients an opportunity for more direct, real-time engagement in the application process for the USVI economic development tax incentive program, and in response to client feedback and requests, the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (VIEDA) is transitioning to an updated online application system for processing these applications through the V.I. Economic Development Commission (VIEDC), according to Wayne L. Biggs, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of the VIEDA. The new system, which is live as of Monday, August 16, 2021, remains accessible online at https://www.usvieda.org/apply .
This system includes several new features that will allow practitioners to
- access a more user-friendly application form
- share access to the application with their client
- create sub-accounts, or teams, for each of their clients
- preview an application prior to submission to the VIEDC
- upload multiple files
- receive improved notifications and reminders about items needed to complete pending applications.
This system also helps to encourage better communication among the client, practitioner and the VIEDC team during the application process.
Applicants with an existing account will be required to create a new password for this system. Applicants with an application in progress may continue to use the existing system and submit their application by Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Any application not submitted by August 24, 2021 will be migrated to the new system. The existing system will be retired on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
The VIEDC is an entity of the VIEDA that oversees the USVI Economic Development Tax Incentive Program which provides tax incentives to eligible small and large businesses in exchange for employment and investment within the Territory for economic growth.
