USVIEDA CEO promotes USVI business opportunities in New Orleans

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands - October 2, 2019 - Kamal I. Latham, chief executive officer of the U.S. Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (USVIEDA) recently led a business marketing mission at the 2019 Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council’s (SRMSDC) Gateway Business Conference. This conference was held from September 4-6, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This conference gave the USVIEDA an opportunity to network with prospective investors, gain exposure, and promote the U.S. Virgin Islands Economic Development Commission Tax Incentive Program to business investors from minority-owned companies in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. It was also an opportunity for USVIEDA to promote the Territory as a prime location for doing business.

Mr. Latham communicated to multiple business leaders that the USVI is ‘Open for Business’ and continues to be an exceptional option for investors. The conference attracted over 100 private and public sector representatives to New Orleans, Louisiana.

"Participating at the Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council’s Gateway Business Conference allowed us to connect with business leaders and suppliers from a variety of industries,” said Kamal I. Latham, USVIEDA CEO. “As we continue to seek investors who are interested in business development opportunities, we will work to ensure that those opportunities benefit our USVI economy,” added Mr. Latham.

According to SRMSDC, this two-day event is the Gulf South's premier annual business conference for businesses leaders, minority suppliers of products, and product buyers within corporate supply chains. SRMSDC provides both advocacy and business development services to companies from these markets and areas.
